Austin brackenridge hospital job

Pros Being yourself, having another family outside of your own. Cons keeping your emotions to yourself. Help us improve! Getting a job straight out of finishing my medical assistant program, was a great place to start my career.

The experience i took from there was amazing, and it helped me jump start my career. Shortly after graduating high school I applied for the position. With in three days of submitting my application I was interviewed and hired. As coworkers we were like a team of siblings. The hardest part of the position was witnessing patients die, especially children. Pros Benefits, paid leave. Cons Short staffed. I loved my job here, working with moms and their new born babies wasn't stressful at all.

I would take both mother and babies vital signs, helped where it was needed. We would see an average of patients in our Trauma, Cardiac, and Treatment areas in a day.

Working fast accurately, staying ahead, Doing and Listening, prioritizing measure to take care of all patients. Cleaned Patients up, Bandaged, Casted, Splinted, put them in Traction splints for fractures, and vitals, etc. It was endless. I loved learning and absorbing all I could. I worked a lot of overtime because I loved my job, the people, the patients, the lives we saved and took care and made a difference in their lives.

Pros All. Cons The ones we couldnt save. I learned so much here it's difficult to put it into words. I saw unimaginable things everyday. One of my favorite things about working in the emergency department was seeing death roll in the door and renewed life walk out. Whether that be because the team of extraordinary people that I worked with was able to save their life or whether that meant that we may be losing a patient in one room while just next door bringing a new life into the world.

The 6 years I spent at Brackenridge hospital truly taught me about life and death and just how precious our gift of life is. Pros Saving a life is an amazing feeling, helping someone feel better or be more educated about their condition, I also made some lifelong friends.

Cons Can be very stressful, little to no breaks most nights. Fast pace environment with high volume of critical care. Very high volume of workload with not a whole lot of staff support. There was not a lot of emphasis in detail oriented results. Not a lot of teamwork.

Pros Good learning opportunities. Cons understaffed. Yes There are 1 helpful reviews 1 No. It was a part time job, I did not have any issue while working there. The doctors were very friendly..
