This bike was made during the small window of time during the very early eighties when production of some Raleigh models was shifted to Japan before production was then moved to various other countries. Features a quick release front wheel. Raleigh branded Suntour derailleurs and Raleigh alloy centerpull brakes. The seat is original and excellent with no rips or tears.
The tires are like new with almost no wear. The frame is in excellent condition for a bike this age, I think it is from the seventies with only a few small paint chips here and there. I picked this up at a local estate sale and am trying to find it a new home. The Derailer is Suntour with the shifters on the handles rather than the frame. A nice feature. There is a bracket for a water bottle and a bracket holding a zefal hp air pump. Another nice feature. The wheels are alloy. The tires are older but hold air fine with no cracking or visible signs of dry rot.

It had a beautifully lugged frame that despite relatively excessive weight was very well suited to its purpose as a commuter bike. The frame, hubs, derailleurs, shifter, seat post, stem, headset, and bottom bracket were salvaged. The bike ended up weighing about 24 pounds when we finished and the performance is excellent.
