When the hospital was sold and became the Charlotte Regional Medical Center in , the foundation transitioned into a separate nonprofit organization called the Charlotte Community Foundation and took on a wider role in the community. As a charity recognized by the Internal Revenue Service, donating through the Charlotte Community Foundation also allows you to recognize the maximum benefits allowed by law.
