I called the owner to express my displeasure. She refused to even consider my complaints, as the designer of the arrangement was « the best in her shop» and « has never created anything but beautiful arrangements. She informed me that if I had issue, I had to call within a 24 — 48 hour window, per policy.
I was never informed of this policy nor is it on her website. I asked her to at least consider pictures of the flowers before she made her decision.
I texted her the photos, and surprise, no response. I sent her another follow up text the next day and she indicated that she would email me. I have included her response below. I think the rest of the story speaks for itself: Dear Elizabeth, We will try this once more. First, let me say I am sorry the arrangement was not what you had envisioned. We consider that a medium size container. Just to reiterate snapshots do not come close to an accurate depiction of either size or nuances of design.
The second photo was from the back of the arrangement. Upon reviewing the order it was placed for « a mixed arr. On each invoice we list the flowers used, amount and cost plus container and labor. We were perhaps a couple of dollars over budget. It was not asymmetrical nor did it lean out to one side. When an order is placed with something very specific in mind, it is sometimes difficult for us to hit the nail on the head in our interpretation.
We are pretty successful in our design interpretation, but in case the client is not happy, our policy is to replace the arrangement within 24 — 48 hours of deliver.
I understand you were unhappy with the arrangement, yet did not contact us for a week. Even though it was not your vision, I am glad your sister enjoyed the arrangement.
I wish you had called immediately so I could have corrected the problem, but due to the time lapse, my hands are tied.
Best, Kathryn I responded to her which I am summarizing because I am out of characters , but essentially reiterated my belief that 1 the 24 — 48 hour policy was bogus, 2 that the arrangement was « asymmetrical» in that an entire side of the arrangement was devoid of flowers, 3 I asked for a standard 12 » height vase and that a «medium» height vase is not that; and 4 does my opinion as the customer not matter at all? Do not use the people.
Trust me. Viridian G. I have had a mixed experience with this florist. These were all gifts, so I know little about the ordering process. However, on two occasions, the arrangements were delivered with wilted flowers. These were mixed bouquets with two dozen or so blooms interspersed with greenery. I found two or three flowers in each to be in drooping, crushed, or wilted condition on delivery.
The last bouquet had no living flowers by the fourth day even though it had some sturdier blossoms like zinnias in the mix. My flowers were delivered late in the day, so possibly they went on a long ride in a hot van first.
Or it could be that many of the arrangements feature greenery below the waterline, leading to rot. I do like the arrangements, and find the aesthetic and the variety of blossoms to be pleasing, particularly as they are so many mediocre florists spraying down roses with glitter, but freshness should be a priority too. I wanted some unusual flowers— which they definitely had and was one of the reasons I chose this flower shop. The main flower I chose was a deep purple along with some others that sounded nice. I asked for cut flowers, not an arrangement— because I know my friend has beautiful vases and would much prefer that.
When the flowers were received, my friend sent a photo to me. I was horrified and embarrassed. I was going for exotic, unusual and delicate. This time another person —who seemed to care more— answered the phone; probably an owner. They did not send more flowers and were never heard from again. Sylvan F. Due to the incredibly high Austin temps, and my impossibly crazy schedule, the owner worked it out so that I could pick up the arrangement at my own convenience in order to preserve the flowers.
