The United Kingdom Census of recorded the people residing in every household on the night of 2 April , and was the fourth of the UK censuses to include details of household members. The format of the census was identical to the previous census. The Census for England was taken on the night of 2 April Forms had been distributed to people a few days earlier and were collected on the 2 April. All responses were to reflect the individual's status as of 2 April for all individuals who had spent the night in the house.
